When I turn back time…

When I turn back time …
I am ten years old, and I go to Papakura Central School. The auditorium is filled with people who are excited to see our costume. The noise of Willow’s voice calling the next person forward is terrifying, because the more she speaks, the closer we are to being called. Everywhere there is a buzz and hum of people's voices waiting to see the next costume.
It was nearly time for us to go on. Willow’s speaking now. Her voice booms above the others and we descend forward, our feet fall softly onto the wooden floor, oh so softly, like leaves floating down and landing without a sound. Everything is over now, we are walking out the door, ready to do it again tomorrow.
Emma calls from in front of me, “Come on, Amanda, we have to go to class,” and I run to join her. We stand in class, our eyes wide open, like we have always done, waiting for our mums to pick us up.
I love the Wearable Arts Show.
