Me and my parents come from NZ, but my Nana on my dads side comes from Wales, and my Poppa on my dads side comes from Yorkshire. On my Mums side, my granddads grandparents come from the Shetland Islands near Scotland. I don't have a religion.


 

Week 1 Day 1 SLJ

Canned Fruit because I like fruit and normal fruit goes off easily, so when it is canned it will last longer.

Bread because It is high on energy and doesn't really need a fridge.

Bagged chips because they can be used for a snack and they keep well.

Energy bars because they are in packets and won't go off.

Canned meat because you still need protein and you won't have dairy.

Nuts because they are good for snacks.

Beef jerky and dried fruits because they will keep and are good for snack.

Bagels because they are tasty and keep well.

Crackers because they keep well.

Fresh water because if I don't bring it I will die of thirst.

Planet Thetis

Hello! This is a piece of writing that me and Emma have been working on for a while. It isn't finished, but we will add some on every week so I would advise checking! I hope you enjoy it.

Hi i’m Theo short for Theophilus, Hi I’m Dirl, short for Dirlene we are best friends but everyone calls us twins we do admit that we look quite alike in various ways so don’t get us mixed up or  Dirl will get grumpy. We live on planet Thetis. It is a hidden planet, isolated in the middle of a lonely galaxy, far far far away from any other planet. Until one day, we were hanging round our favourite place (the zoo) when suddenly one half of the planet lit up in flames ”Ahhh!” screamed the girls. The fire killed everyone on that half instantly. We were shocked. The flames were drawing nearer. We got onto a aphilo, which is a Thetis horse. We rode to the nearest star ship and without thinking, brung the aphilos onboard. Then we took off. Soon after that the planet explode sending the ship further into space. They both screamed and cried and sobbed and wailed over the losses of their family and friends. Soon, they fell into a sleep filled with anger and grief. When Theo woke up, Dirl was already up and driving the ship. “We are going to earth, because it's the closest planet to Thetis.” Dirl announced. Theo looked at her in disgust “But...but..they are our enemy, no no no, I'm not going and you can’t make me!” Just then they heard a loud whine Dirl spun around and shouted at Theo. “Help it! I think it’s giving birth!” Theo rushed over to help the aphilo. With Theo’s help the aphilo gave birth to not one foal, not two, not even three, but five aphilo foals. One sadly died in birth. “Nice job Theo.” said Dirl. Then the mother aphilo suddenly stopped breathing. The father rushed over and sniffed her. Then he let out a tremendos roar. She was dead. We had to throw the dead foal and the dead mother into space. “Well, we should get going,” said Theo. “Ok have we agreed on going to Earth?” asked Dirl. “Well, I guess we have no choice.” answered Theo. So Dirl steered the spaceship to earth, Theo sat down on a chair and tried to get some sleep. Two hours later Theo was sent flying through the air and landed with a thud on the ground. She caught a glimpse of Dirl frozen on the driver's seat clutching the steering wheel, holding on for dear life. “I don’t think my landing was very good.” said Dirl. Theo laughed. “I agree.” The aphilo foals were very happy that morning. Dirl and Theo fed them each some milk to keep them all happy. Then Dirl walked over to the window where she saw a big palace in front of her the next thing she knew an old Earthling lady with a very big bottom followed by ten men dressed in red and black with black furry animals attached to their heads. Dirl smashed her face against the window of the spaceship, pulled the happiest face she could muster, and waved. Meanwhile, the lady said “What on earth are these strange creatures!? Call the AAS!”(anti alien society) Dirl came rushing out to meet the important looking lady. One of the men with a black furry animal on his head grabbed her arm, but that didn’t stop her. She knew that they couldn’t understand her, so she waved again and pointed to the ship and then to her. Then she pointed the earth peace sign and then acted the exploding of a planet. What she meant it to mean was ‘Hi! We come in peace. Our planet was blown up. Can you help us?’ But the queen thought she meant ‘Hi! Our planet is peaceful, but we want a war. We will blow your planet up!’ So she ordered her soldiers to arrest Dirl. The soldiers searched the spaceship and found Theo baking some funny looking cakes. She put on her most winning smile and waved. The soldiers grabbed her and tied her up. Dirl and Theo were tied and thrown into a cage and carried into the building, Theo tried talking to them to let them go but the earthlings with furry animals on there heads just dumped them into a room. The lady with the big bottom stalked in with a companion it was a big burly man in a uniform with AAS stitched into his uniform, a young girl walked into the room behind this strange man she was wearing a cream dress with a black collar and a black belt. Her dark brown hair was in a braided turban (a greek hairstyle) she looked scared when she turned her head to look at Theo and Dirl. Her father laid his hands on his daughter and steered her over to a chair and plonked her down he seemed calm that his daughter was there with him but the queen looked outraged “What in the world is this ?” she thundered,The man simply sighed, “This is my daughter Clara and she had to come with me at the last minute sorry Ma'am I’ll get to work”. He stalked over to the cage and grabbed Dirl by the neck and threw her onto the floor and put his foot on her back. Then, he tied her hands so roughly that it made her wince. Theo was quietly trying to escape and help her friend. While the adults were distracted, Clara walked over to Theo and told her to get back before her father saw her and she also told her that she would be ok. Theo was so confused. She could understand Clara! Just then, she heard a “hiss”. The man was yanking Dirl’s ear and she couldn't help but hiss. The man stepped back and punched Dirl on the nose. It started bleeding. Clara gave a little squeak. Dirl turned her head to look at Theo, Theo held her thumbs up as in saying sorry but good luck the man was saying to the lady “These creatures are dangerous they need to be in custody well kept from the world” “Ok will thy concentration camp do” the lady said “Yes Ma’am, I will call for the freight train car”. Soon the men with fluffy things on there heads stalked into the room and one of them grabbed Dirl and put her on his shoulder holding her legs. They did the same with Theo. Their ride was bumpy and they were only fed stale earth bread. They ran out as soon as the doors wereopened, but were caught again. A week later, they were very weak.They had a literacy day where lots of the aliens came into a room to learn english.  If they put one toe out of line, they will be killed. There are over one million other aliens from different planets at the concentration camp, and about three come in every day. But Clara’s father, Edward, kills three every day for entertainment. One at breakfast who is hung, one at lunch who is burnt, and one at dinner who is drowned. There are ten thousand groups of one hundred. Dirl and Theo are in group fifty nine who got called the Snow Leopards. One evening the snow leopards got escorted out of their cold stone cellars there were a plain blanket on the floor that the one hundred of them of them had to share. As they were going to dinner, an alien spoke up “vhy do ve have to be in zes place it horrid” Edward turned his head and said “Why, I’ll tell you why” then he grabbed his gun and pointed it toward the alien and “BANG”  “Airen!” yelled an alien women. A little alien child was sobbing beside his mother. “Shut it or your next! Now who am I going to drown tonight” an evil smile crossed over Edwards already smug face. “You will do.” he pointed at Theo. “You know your not aloud to kill people.” said Theo calmly. “I’m not.” he said. An AAS soldier grabbed Theo and dragged her over to the fish tank, which was what Edward put aliens in to drown. They would put a gag in there mouth and tape it to there face. Then, they would tie the aliens hands and feet. After that, they would put them in the tank, close the lid, and leave them to drown. Dirl was surprisingly calm. They put a gag in Theo’s mouth and tied her up. Then, they put her in the fish tank and closed the lid.Theo put head first in the tank then they started filling up the tank. She didn’t move a muscle. Soon, the tank was full up to her shoulders, then her neck, then her whole body was covered in water. Then, somehow, she took a deep breath and smiled. Edward gasped. “What is going on!” he bellowed. He stared at her right into Theo’s eyes, but she  just kept grinning. “Leave her there.” ordered Edward. “She’ll run out of breath it a minute. Lets question her companion.” he said looking at Dirl. the AAS soldiers dragged her over and tied onto a steel chair. Everyone else to lead to the filthy dining room. The chef handed out stale bread and fish juice. Theo was still in the tank making a funny looking dance. Dirl on the other hand was sitting in an interrogation chair. “Why can she breath underwater?” Asked Edward. Silence flooded the room. “I said, why can she breath underwater?” Asked Edward again. Silence again. “Kill her.” he said. A AAS soldier pointed a gun at her and fired. In less than a millisecond, Dirl had moved her head and the bullet flew past her head. “Oh my goshwhat are you beasts!” Edward yelled. “I am going to take you to the superalien cell. I made it just in case we found unstoppable aliens like you. I didn’t know there would be any survivor from Thetis”. Dirl looked shocked “You” she said stammering “Killed m-my family” tears now rolling down her cheeks. “Yes, for one reason, your race is powerful and can’t be killed so the only way we could kill your race is to send a powerful missile to blow your planet up.” Edward said with a smirk. Dirl was outraged. Edward ordered his men to take her out of his sight the men walked over to there and untied her. She shot up at the chance and raced about the room she couldn’t get far because the room was secure “Ugh, enough of this” Edward thundered he put his gun out on the wall and as she sped by they rammed into the gun. She fell to the ground unconscious. Dirl woke up an hour later in the superalein cell. She heard sobbing to her left and looked over there was Theo lying sprawled out on the floor hands bleeding as there was a needle trapped in her hands and one of Edwards men was tattooing a number in her arm. A gag was in her mouth. One of the men stepped over to Dirl and put a gag in. She tried to move but couldn’t because she was chained to the wall. She felt a searing pain in her hands. She looked up and saw there were needles in them. A number was tattooed into her wrist. Number two. She looked over at Theo and saw that she was number one. She knew these numbers were not good. Her arms and neck were chained to the wall, “ UUUGGGHHH There killing me” the scream put Dirl out of her daydream. Theo was yelling at Dirl it the Thetis language so the AAS soldiers couldn't understand. They were injecting a strange blue liquid into her. “What are you doing to her?” Dirl yelled in english. “What did she yell at you?” one of the soldiers shouted over Theo’s screams. “You tell me what you are doing to her first!” “Ok!” said the second soldier. “We are injecting a liquid that will make her fall asleep while we do medical experiments on her.” “What do you mean experiments?” asked Dirl. “We are going to do tests on you both. Like, to see what happens when tomato is mixed with Thetis blood and things like that.” “Let us go!” screamed Theo. Then, she fell asleep. The soldiers smiled and walked over to Dirl. Then, the first soldier jabbed her with a syringe with the blue stuff it it. The other one put a gag in her mouth. Then, they heard a scream from outside. The soldiers stopped what they were doing and went outside to see what it came from. A dart flew into each of the soldiers necks and they fell to the ground dead. One of the Saturn aliens called Orion  stepped into view. “She’ll be unconscious for another hour.” he said. Then, his wife Caritas who was holding a human gun shot the lock on the door and they stepped in. Orion pulled the needles out of Theo’s hand, then took the gag out. Caritasdid the same to Dirl and helped her out of her chains. When Dirl was free Orion threw her a gun. When she had figured out how to use it and shot Theo’s chains freeing her. Orion picked her up and beckoned them forward. They follow him down a narrow hallway and the met Clara at the end. “What are you doing here?” asked Dirl. “I’m helping you escape, now come on!” she said. Clara was wearing a short red and black dress with her hair done in a simple half ponytail. Dirl didn’t trust Clara because she was Edward's daughter after all. “How do I know I can trust you?” Asked Dirl. “Because we trust her.” Orion said. “I want to help you. I know my father is very terrible, but I’m not like him.” “Hmmm, ok then. But if you try turning us in, your dead.” Said Dirl. “Ok good. Now, let's free the other aliens.” said Caritas. They moved on to the dining room and found that it was lunch time. There was a small alien child being dragged to the metal pole where the aliens were burnt to death. The mother of this child was sobbing and being held back by some soldiers. Dirl was raging and without thinking, shot Edward in the heart. Clara screamed and ran towards her father. Caritas, Orion and Dirl started shooting all the other soldiers. Theo sat up startled at all the noise. Dirl dropped her gun and explained what had happened and how to use a human gun. Theo was soon up and shooting with the others. They heard a child's scream from the crowd and Caritas ran to see who had been shot. She came back holding a weeping Clara. Her hand had been shot by a soldier. “You” she stammered to Dirl “k-kkilled m-my father”

Information Report: African Elephants

African elephants are very unique in many ways. You shall find out what the African Elephant eats, how
they live, their life cycle, and their predators. Here are six paragraphs ahead that will inform you how very strange and amazing African Elephants are.

African Elephants are a grey color and have small strands of hair all over their wrinkled leathery skin.
They have a long trunk that acts as their nose with two tusks that are a faint yellow or whitish color.
They are a very large.

Moving on, African Elephants eat a variety of leaves, nutritious wood and shrubs, and flowers and
berries, ( When available. ) They find food by instinct and memory, older elephants always lead the herd
to a better source of food and water what they run out.

Now for predators, the African Elephants predators can be, lions, habitat loss caused by housing, and
even us. Some humans hunt the elephants for their tusks, they are called poachers. But don’t think
poachers are evil, because they are not, they are just doing what they think is right.

It all starts as a baby, then after about two years, the calf is weaned, which means it’s mother doesn't let
it have milk anymore. Then it starts becoming more independent. The boys leave the herd and try to get
their own herd. The girls stay in the herd and the life cycle starts all over again.

African Elephants live in the grasslands and rainforests of Africa. The grasslands provide enough food
and water for the herd, but throughout droughts, they may struggle. In the rainforest, they normally have
enough food and water, but after floods, the food might be washed away by flooded streams and ponds.

Here are some other interesting facts about  African Elephants:

• African Elephants are still being poached for their ivory, even after it was banned.
• Elephants can live up to 70 years!
• Elephants are one of the smartest animals in the world.
• Elephants live in groups.

The Matariki Comet Crash!

Once upon a time, the Matariki stars were chillin it the comet taxi that will take then to there place for the
Maori celebration, Matariki. Then, a meteor suddenly pulled up in front of them and the comet crashed
into the meteor. Waiti, Waita, Ururangi, Tupu-a-Nuku, Tupu-a-rangi, Waipumarangi, and Matariki were
screaming their heads off. When the comet taxi finally crashed into the moon, all seven sisters were
injured. Waiti had a broken toe, Waita was unconscious, Ururangi had a broken arm, Tupu-a-Nuku had a
few grazes, Tupu-a-rangi had a broken leg, Waipumarangi had a dislocated shoulder, and Matariki had a
broken spine. Tupu-a-nuku got up and checked on her sisters. When she finally got to Matariki, all the
sisters were patched up and ready to go the the Matariki celebration. “I can’t go sisters. Find someone
else this year please.” said Matariki. The sisters cried their hearts out. Waita called the star ambulance
and the doctors said she couldn't go to Matariki. The sisters were heartbroken, but determined to find a
replacement. They searched, and searched the whole Galaxy, and finally found a star that was as bright
as Matariki. Her name was Kotahi, which means bright one. They explained to Kotahi what had
happened, and she said she would take Matariki’s place for the year. The celebration was a big hit, all the
humans down on earth had a wonderful time. Kotahi remaned the sisters friend for the rest of time.
From then on, every Matariki, Kotahi took her place close to the sisters. She was not officially a Matariki
star, but she was in the sisters hearts.

Today I tried to keep a balloon in the air by blowing through a straw.

Explanation Writing: How To Be Calm

Today I will be explaining how to be calm. First, you have to notice your mad. Here are some things you need to look for; Heavy breathing, hot face, people telling you your being mean.
Next you should walk away from whatever, or whoever made you mad.
Find a quiet spot where you can be alone without anyone annoying you, like you
bedroom if at home, or kit kat, if a school. Then close your eye, and pretend your in you happy place, for example, reading a good book or skateboarding at a skate park, maybe even flying on a plane.
After that, you should take deep breaths,
( in through the nose and out through the mouth. ) Then you should go
back to whatever you were doing. When your there, ask the one at fault to
apologise, or apologise yourself. After that, carry on what your doing and
pretend it never happened. That's how to be calm. Now be sure you’ll use these strategies.

Dance Of The Birds

This is a story of a bird that comes to land on a branch and fly's away. Over time, the tree grows to full size and a nest is made. Then it shows the egg hatching and a bird coming out. then the original bird comes back and after many many years, they die together.
